If you have not heard of Darlene Ryan put her on your radar. As a life-long writer, Darlene Ryan's books are full of honesty and raw truth. As part of of the 2012 YA Saves Reading Challenge's February Focus of All That Is Love, I am honored to have today Darlene Ryan speak with us about her writing, herself and future projects.
For those that may not know exactly what your book Saving Grace is about, can you give us a little 'synopsis' about it...
What was your inspiration(s) for Saving Grace?
My books all start the same way; with a "what if." In this case it was what if you placed your baby for adoption and then stole the baby from her adoptive parents? What would happen then?How do you think YA novels about teen pregnancy can help readers?
I think any book that starts people talking about a subject is terrific, whether readers are talking about the book because they like the way the subject is handled or because they don't.Are there any books that you need as a teen that you can call a YA Saves book?
I think in some ways every book I read as a teenager could fall under that banner in some way. The books I read as a teenager definitely helped shape the person I became.How did they help you?
I think they 'saved' me in the sense that while I was reading I wasn't doing something stupid that might have gotten me into trouble. One of my friends from high school became my friend because she noticed I was reading one of her favorite books. We're still friends today.What is one interesting fun fact about your that not many may know about?
I really like math. It was my favorite subject in school. And I like to read books like A Brief History of Time and The Grand Design, bot by Stephen Hawking.Can you give us any hints on any current or future projects you are working on?
I also write The Magical Cats mysteries as Sofia Kelly. The next book in that series, Copycat Killing will be out May 1st.
