Author Chat with Rachel Vincent {Giveaway}

It is hard to look at any YA section without noticing a book by Rachel Vincent.  Her Soul Screamers series is huge!  If you haven't read it your world is lacking.  Her main character, Kaylee, is thrust into the world and its inhabitants of the underworld, discovering she is a Ban-shee, singing for the souls of those dying.  Being a huge fan I am honored to have Rachel with us today as part of our challenge, answering a few questions on writing, love and more!

Do you find writing paranormal love interests difficult, fun, or overwhelming (or anything else)? and Why?

I’m not really sure how to answer that. I’ve never written non-paranormal love interests. ;) But, honestly, I doubt there’s much difference, because even though most of my characters are non(or extra)human, their relationships are very much human. Flawed. Difficult. Fun. Sometimes heartbreaking.

While it might be impossible to not give away any spoilers for those that have not read If I Die, can you give us a brief description of Kaylee's Love Life? (I know this is particularly hard...)

Kaylee’s love life is…complicated. Especially in and after If I Die. The heart doesn’t work like the brain. What it wants sometimes makes no clear sense. Your brain never wants to hurt you, but sometimes your heart seems determined to.


Kaylee is happy now, but not without regret. It’ll take a while for things to smooth over.

Do you draw your characters' love lives from personal experiences or leave it up to the imagination?

Their love lives are fictional, just like their plotlines. ;)

Growing up how did you deal with love? I know personally, love can make you do crazy things!

I didn’t. I was never in love, growing up. And I wasn’t really one of those mushy, sentimental kind of girls. I was a very college/future/eyes ahead kind of girl. ;)

Can you give us any hints about what you have planned next for Kaylee and the Soul Screamers series?

Bigger problems. Consequences. Kissing. Fighting evil. Growing up—without ever actually growing up. (That last one makes sense, if you’ve read If I Die.)
